About the 550A

The 550A is the general-purpose servo motor we fit under most medium-duty heads and sell to replace noisy clutch motors on machines of any brand. It draws power only when the pedal is down, it is quiet, and the speed dial lets the operator set a top speed from 0 to 3,600 RPM so a learner on a walking foot can crawl and a production operator on a flatbed can run. A switch reverses rotation for heads that turn the other way.

It mounts on the standard industrial table motor plate and uses the standard belt. We supply the pulley to match your head.

Will it fit my machine?

Any head on a standard industrial table with a belt drive. Tell us the model and we send the right pulley.

Does it have needle positioning?

No. For needle-up and needle-down stops and an automatic foot lift, the SP-1100 NPFL.

Is it strong enough for a 441?

With a speed reducer, yes. On the heaviest heads we prefer the 1100W SP-1100 for the extra torque.
