About the 733-PRO

The 733-PRO exists for the seams that nothing else will sew. It takes Schmetz 1000H needles up to size 330, runs bonded thread from 138 to 554 and 8-cord, and forms the stitch in an extra-large oscillating shuttle that holds enough bobbin for a full sling. The stitch goes to 10mm, the foot lifts 1 1/4 inches, and the top speed of 550 RPM is where it should be for a needle this size.

It is a walking foot head, so it feeds layered webbing and canvas evenly, and it is at home on cargo slings, parachute harness, safety harness, sail corners, tents and book bindings. We show it on video sewing a stack of webbing that a conventional machine would not start.

If your work is 138 thread and vinyl, do not buy it. If you make rated lifting gear, you probably need it.

How we deliver it

1Servo motor with needle positioner, sized to the head: we match the pulley and, on the heavy heads, add a speed reducer so the needle goes through a thick corner one stitch at a time. A 3:1 reducer is standard; the operator sews a stitch at a time through a stack of webbing.
2Heavy-duty table with a reinforced top for the head weight.
3Needle plate and feet for your strap width; hot knife for synthetic webbing on request.
4Threaded with your thread, timed, tension set and a seam sewn on a sample of your material before it leaves Ephrata.

Questions about the 733-PRO

Will it sew 8-cord thread?

Yes. That is what the extra-large shuttle and 1000H needles are for.

Is there a long arm version?

Yes, the 733-30 with 30 inches under the arm, for tarps, sails and long slings.

Can it sew light material?

It can, but the smallest needle it takes is size 250. For 138 thread and lighter choose a 1508NH or 204-420.
