About the 1710D
The 1710D is the general-purpose heavy post bed. The feed is triple unison, the same needle, foot and dog system as a walking foot flatbed, mounted on a 7 inch post, so it grips layered leather and vinyl while the operator turns the piece under the needle. A large vertical-axis rotary hook, 8mm stitch, 14mm pneumatic foot lift and a safety clutch round out the head.
The direct drive 750W servo with needle positioning lets the operator stop needle-down on every corner, which on a post bed is most of the job. We show it on video doing leather topstitch, which is the work it is bought for most: automotive armrests and headrests, bag bodies, boot shafts, saddle seats.
Thread range is 46 to 138. For 207 topstitch in heavy automotive leather, the 243H-P2 is the heavier choice.
