About the 18365-17

The 18365-17 is the tallest post in our range: 17 inches from table to needle plate. It is bought for one reason, products deep enough that nothing shorter reaches the seam: riding boot shafts, large duffel bags, saddlebags, tool cases, instrument cases. The product hangs around the post, the operator turns it, and the seam near the opening is sewn without rolling.

The head is needle feed with alternating presser feet, a rotating hook with a G bobbin, 6mm stitch, 16mm lift, reverse and a safety clutch, with thread from 46 to 138 through 135x17 needles. It runs at up to 1,200 RPM, and on this kind of work it mostly runs slowly.

Questions about the 18365-17

18365-17 or 8360BL?

Both have 17 inch posts. The 8360BL has triple unison feed and a large hook and is the heavier machine; the 18365-17 is needle feed with alternating feet and costs less. For boot shafts in heavy leather, the 8360BL. For bags and cases, the 18365-17 is usually enough.

Is it hard to operate?

Different, not harder. Operators used to a flatbed need a few days to get used to turning the work instead of pushing it. After that most prefer it for curves.
