About the 204-30
The 204-30 is the deep-throat heavy flatbed for the biggest pieces. Thirty inches between the needle and the arm, a barrel shuttle that holds a large bobbin of 277 to 415 thread, a 794 needle, 12mm stitch, 24mm foot lift and triple feed: a rolled truck tarp, a sail panel, a cargo net or a lifting sling with hardware at both ends goes under the arm and gets sewn with a stitch a rotary hook could not form.
It runs at 600 RPM at most and is normally run slower. It is a production machine for sling makers, tarp shops and sail lofts; for 138 thread and canvas the 1510 long arms are faster and cheaper.
